Why we are different
SUNARES divides the investment universe – according to ancient Chinese principles – into two parts: Yin and Yang, representing the dual interplay of all earthly life. Symbolically, ‘Yin’ means the shady side of a mountain and is associated with the basic elements of earth and water – or with the ‘feminine principle’. Conversely, ‘Yang’ means the sunny side of the mountain, which is associated with the basic elements of fire and air (the ‘masculine principle’).
The core thesis and foundation of SUNARES is the belief that this natural balance of the four basic earthly elements has become severely unbalanced due to a disproportionate increase in the Yang sector (these are all sectors and industries that can be associated with the elements of fire and air).
By selecting only ‘Yin’-correlated industries (such as energy, commodities, water, agriculture, and food) and by omitting ‘Yang’-related industries (such as the entire financial sector and all companies that generate a large portion of their profits through financial transactions), SUNARES aims to outperform in the long term and avoid possible future crises in the financial and/or derivatives sector.
